BRIEF: Create a new symbol for Origin Coffee, along with a rebranding and a subbrand.
This brief involved rebranding Origin Coffee, a well-known roaster from Cornwall, focusing on creating a new symbol to accompany the existing wordmark. The brand's minimalistic design concealed the diverse origins of its coffee beans, so the rebranding aimed to highlight these rich cultures and add vibrancy to Origin's identity. Inspired by Cornwall’s coastline, a mail stamp-style symbol was designed, featuring waves and birds that reflect the local landscape. A series of country-specific mail stamps were also developed to narrate the coffee journey and celebrate its cultural tapestry.
The subbrand “Festivo” offers limited edition coffee bean packaging for each national day of its origin, with events to showcase unique flavors and special packaging. Customers receive a passport to collect stamps at each event, and completing the passport earns them free coffee beans of their choice. This initiative encourages exploration of new coffee varieties from around the world.
